Description

This Buffalo Chicken Pizza combines tender shredded chicken tossed in spicy buffalo sauce with melty mozzarella and tangy blue cheese dressing on a crispy, garlic Parmesan crust. Perfectly balanced with red onions and banana peppers, this pizza is a flavorful twist on classic buffalo wings, baked to golden perfection and garnished with fresh chives, red pepper flakes, and parsley.

Ingredients

Scale

Buffalo Chicken Pizza

  • 1 ½ cups shredded chicken
  • ⅓ cup buffalo sauce, plus more to drizzle on top
  • ¼ cup blue cheese dressing, divided (can substitute Ranch)
  • 1 lb. pizza dough, at room temperature
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (low moisture whole milk preferred)
  • ¼ cup red onions, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup banana pepper rings, patted dry

Garlic Butter Parmesan Crust

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

To Garnish

  • Chives or green onions, chopped
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. For extra crispy crust, place a pizza stone inside while the oven preheats.
  2. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, combine shredded chicken, ⅓ cup buffalo sauce, and 1 tablespoon of blue cheese dressing. Let it marinate while preparing other ingredients.
  3. Prepare Dough: Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan or pizza stone. Spread the pizza dough evenly onto it. Use a fork to poke holes in the dough to prevent bubbles during baking.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Spread ½ cup pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle most of the 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Top with the buffalo chicken mixture, red onions, and banana pepper rings, then sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top.
  5. Add Drizzles: Drizzle 3 tablespoons of blue cheese dressing and 1 to 2 tablespoons of buffalo sauce evenly over the assembled pizza.
  6. Bake Pizza: Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 13 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the crust just starts to brown.
  7. Prepare Garlic Butter: While pizza bakes, mix melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  8. Brush Crust: Remove the pizza from the oven and brush the garlic butter mixture over the crust edges.
  9. Finish Baking: Return pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 3 minutes until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven. Sprinkle chopped chives or green onions, red pepper flakes, and parsley over the pizza. Slice into 8 pieces and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese dressing for authentic flavor, located in the refrigerated produce section; Ranch can be used as a milder substitute.
  • Frank's Buffalo Sauce is the recommended brand for the perfect spicy kick.
  • Use low moisture whole milk mozzarella shredded from a block for the best melt and texture; avoid fresh mozzarella as it's too moist.
  • Store-bought refrigerated pizza dough is a convenient shortcut but homemade dough will enhance the flavor and texture.
  • For extra crispy crust, preheat a pizza stone in the oven before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
  • Try this recipe as a base and experiment with other toppings like pineapple for a Hawaiian twist.
