Description

Delight in the festive flavors of Christmas Gumdrop Nougat Candy, a sweet and colorful treat combining creamy white chocolate, soft marshmallows, and vibrant Dots candy. Perfect for holiday celebrations and gift-giving, this no-bake candy is easy to prepare with a rich, chewy texture and bursts of fruity gumdrop flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Candy and Chocolate

  • 10 ounces Dots candy
  • 1 ¾ cups white chocolate chips

Marshmallow Mixture

  • 1 10-ounce bag mini marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and set aside to make removal of the nougat easy after setting.
  2. Melt the White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds to ensure the chocolate melts evenly without burning. Once smooth and creamy, set aside.
  3. Warm Marshmallows and Butter: In a medium mixing bowl, add the mini marshmallows and unsalted butter. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until the marshmallows puff up and rise to the top of the bowl.
  4. Combine Marshmallows and Butter: Remove the bowl from the microwave and stir thoroughly until the butter is completely melted and the marshmallows form a smooth mixture.
  5. Incorporate Melted Chocolate: Quickly add the melted white chocolate to the marshmallow mixture and stir well but work fast to ensure even distribution before the mixture cools.
  6. Add Most of the Dots Candy: Reserve ⅓ cup of Dots candy and add the remainder into the candy mixture, stirring gently to spread the gumdrops evenly throughout.
  7. Transfer to Pan: Immediately pour the sticky mixture into the prepared parchment-lined pan. Spray your hands with cooking spray to prevent sticking, then spread the mixture evenly across the pan surface.
  8. Decorate and Press Remaining Dots: Sprinkle the reserved ⅓ cup of Dots candy on top and gently press them into the nougat to add colorful accents and fill any gaps.
  9. Set the Nougat: Allow the nougat candy to cool and set at room temperature for about 4 hours and 25 minutes or until firm enough to cut into squares suitable for serving.

Notes

  • Spraying your hands with cooking spray is key to preventing stickiness when pressing and spreading the nougat mixture.
  • Stir the chocolate every 30 seconds during microwaving to avoid seizing or burning the chips.
  • Reserve some Dots candy to decorate the top for an attractive presentation.
  • For quicker setting, you can refrigerate the nougat for about 1 to 2 hours, but room temperature setting preserves the chewy texture best.
  • Store the nougat candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
