Description

Million Dollar Chicken is a flavorful baked chicken dish topped with a creamy, cheesy mixture loaded with crispy bacon and crunchy almonds. This dish combines tender, juicy chicken breasts with a rich topping of cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and seasonings, making it a crowd-pleaser perfect to serve alongside rice, pasta, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 3 pounds

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Toppings & Mix

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions, divided
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, divided

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Preheat: Spray a 9x13x2 inch baking dish with cooking spray and preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to get ready for baking.
  2. Cook Bacon: Cook the bacon until crispy, then chop it into small pieces and set aside for the topping mixture.
  3. Tenderize and Season Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts with a meat tenderizer until evenly about ½ inch thick. Season all sides with salt, pepper, and paprika to enhance flavor.
  4. Mix Topping: In a bowl, combine the cooked chopped bacon, softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, 2 tablespoons of sliced green onions, and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds until well mixed.
  5. Assemble: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Evenly spread the creamy bacon-cheese mixture on top of each breast.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons each of sliced green onions and slivered almonds over the top for garnish and added crunch before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute slivered almonds with chopped pecans or walnuts for a different crunch and flavor.
  • Make sure to let the chicken rest a few minutes after baking to keep it juicy when serving.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese and sour cream for the richest taste, but low-fat versions can be used for a lighter dish.
  • Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked safely to 165°F.
  • Serve with steamed rice, cooked pasta, or fresh vegetables to complete the meal.
