Description

Enjoy the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak in slider form with this easy recipe. Thinly sliced ribeye steak, sautéed onions and bell peppers, melted provolone cheese, and a savory buttered bun make these sliders perfect for parties, game days, or a satisfying meal any time.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Cheese

  • 1 ½ pounds ribeye steak - thinly sliced (or shaved)
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Vegetables

  • 1 yellow onion - thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper - thinly sliced

Other

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil - (or butter)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt - (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slider buns
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter - melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350℉ and lightly spray a pan or baking dish.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: Thinly slice the ribeye steak, yellow onion, and green bell pepper so they are ready for cooking.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak, season with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce. Cook until browned and fully cooked through. Remove from skillet and place in a bowl.
  4. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sauté until they are soft and tender, then remove from heat.
  5. Assemble Sliders: Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the pack intact. Place the bottom halves on a greased baking sheet or dish. Evenly layer the cooked steak over the buns, top with the sautéed onions and peppers, then add the provolone cheese slices. Finish by placing the top halves of the buns onto each slider.
  6. Prepare Butter Topping: Melt 4 tablespoons of salted butter and mix in 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and ½ tablespoon dried parsley. Brush this seasoned butter mixture generously onto the tops of the slider buns.
  7. Bake Sliders: Cover the sliders with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese melts and the tops are slightly golden.
  8. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and serve them warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Store leftover sliders in an airtight container or resealable bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • To reheat, preheat the oven to 300℉ and bake the sliders for 15 minutes until warmed through.
  • Microwaving leftovers is quicker but may result in soggy buns.
  • For thinner steak slices, partially freezing the meat before slicing can help.
  • You can substitute ribeye with sirloin or another tender beef cut for a more budget-friendly option.
  • Using butter in place of olive oil to cook the steak adds richness and depth of flavor.
