Ingredients
Scale
Oreo Balls
- 45 Oreo cookies (about 18 ounces, Family Size package)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
- 10 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers (divided)
Snowman Hats and Decoration
- 12 mini Oreos (split and cream removed)
- 24 Rolos candies (dark chocolate)
- Holly sprinkle mix
- Snowman sprinkle mix (including two black sugar pearl sprinkles for eyes, carrot sprinkles for nose, additional black sugar pearl sprinkles for smile)
Instructions
- Prepare baking tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside.
- Crush Oreos: Place the 45 Oreo cookies in a food processor or high-speed blender and pulse until they become fine crumbs.
- Mix cream cheese: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened 8 ounces of cream cheese with a hand mixer on high speed until smooth.
- Combine Oreo crumbs and cream cheese: Add the Oreo crumbs to the cream cheese bowl and mix on medium speed until well combined.
- Form balls and chill: Using a medium cookie scoop, portion mixture into evenly sized balls, roll into smooth spheres by hand, place on the prepared baking tray, and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Make snowman hats: Melt about 1/4 cup of the white chocolate wafers in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals until smooth.
- Prepare mini Oreo halves: Split the 12 mini Oreos in half, scrape off and discard the cream filling.
- Assemble hats: Use a skewer to dab melted white chocolate onto the flat side of an Oreo half, immediately place a Rolo candy upside-down on top, and decorate with holly sprinkle mix. Repeat for all hats. Allow chocolate to harden.
- Melt remaining white chocolate: Melt the remaining white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring between until fully smooth.
- Dip Oreo balls: Using a fork, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted white chocolate, lift it out, lightly tap the fork on the bowl side to even the coating, then place the coated ball back onto the tray.
- Decorate faces: Immediately add the snowman sprinkle mix to each coated ball to create the face with eyes, nose, and smile. Work quickly as coating will set fast.
- Attach hats: Place the decorated hats onto the snowman heads. If chocolate coating has set, dab a little melted chocolate on top to secure the hat, hold steady for a few seconds.
- Final setting: Allow the snowman Oreo balls to fully set for about 15 minutes, then keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Enjoy!
Notes
- Any flavored Oreos can be substituted for classic Oreos if desired.
- If Wilton’s Snowman Decorating Sprinkles are unavailable, use black sugar pearls or black icing gel for eyes and smile, and orange sprinkles or an orange Tic Tac for the nose.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
- Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for smoother mixing.
- Work quickly when decorating the faces so the coating does not set before adding the sprinkles.
