Description

Enjoy the bold and tangy flavors of a Spicy Dill Pickle Margarita, a unique cocktail combining tequila, dill pickle brine, and a touch of hot honey for a flavorful twist. Perfectly rimmed with Tajin and garnished with mini dill pickles, this refreshing drink is ideal for those who love a spicy, savory margarita experience.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Margarita

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz dill pickle brine
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 tbsp hot honey (adjust to taste)
  • Sparkling water, to top
  • Mini dill pickles, for garnish

For the Rim

  • Tajin, for rimming the glass

Hot Honey (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank's)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rim: Brush the rim of your cocktail glass with honey. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of Tajin onto a shallow plate. Dip and roll the rim of the glass into the Tajin, coating it evenly and shaking off any excess.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, dill pickle brine, Cointreau, lime juice, and hot honey. Add ice to fill the shaker and shake vigorously until the mixture is cold.
  3. Serve: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass. Top with sparkling water to add a refreshing fizz.
  4. Garnish: Add mini dill pickles as garnish to enhance the pickle flavor and add visual appeal.
  5. Make Hot Honey (Optional): In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir continuously until the granules fully dissolve, about 1-2 minutes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerate for longer shelf life.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot honey to control the cocktail’s spiciness according to your preference.
  • If you don’t have Tajin for the rim, a mix of chili powder and salt works as a substitute.
  • For a milder drink, reduce or omit the hot honey entirely.
  • The pickle brine adds a tangy and savory element—use a high-quality pickle juice for best flavor.
  • Mini dill pickles can be substituted with pickle spears or slices if unavailable.
