Description

Delight in these festive Valentine’s Oreo Truffles, combining crushed golden Oreo cookies and creamy cream cheese, all coated in luscious vanilla candy coating and decorated with colorful Valentine sprinkles. Perfect for a sweet treat or holiday party dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 42 golden Oreo cookies
  • 6 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
  • 20 drops pink food coloring, divided

Coating and Decoration

  • 16 ounces vanilla candy coating
  • Favorite Valentine sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Crumbs: Place 42 golden Oreo cookies in a food processor or sealed bag. Crush them into fine crumbs by pulsing or smashing with a rolling pin.
  2. Mix Oreo Crumbs and Cream Cheese: Transfer the crumbs to a mixer or leave in food processor. Add 6 ounces softened cream cheese and 10 drops of pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the mixture sticks together. If too thin, add more cookie crumbs.
  3. Shape Truffles: Use a small ice cream scoop, melon baller, or teaspoon to scoop uniform amounts of the mixture. Roll each portion into a firm 1 1/4 inch ball between your palms. Place the balls on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. You should get about 24 truffles. Freeze to firm up while preparing coating.
  4. Melt Candy Coating: Break 16 ounces of vanilla candy coating into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 second bursts, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Coat Truffles: Dip each chilled truffle one at a time into the melted candy coating using a fork or dipping tool. Tap the bottom against the bowl's lip to remove excess coating. Place back onto parchment paper.
  6. Decorate: While the coating is still soft, sprinkle Valentine sprinkles on top of each truffle. Repeat until all are coated and decorated.
  7. Set Coating: Refrigerate the tray with truffles for at least 15 minutes to allow the coating to fully set. Serve truffles at room temperature for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Store truffles in the fridge until serving. They taste best cold but can be left at room temperature up to 2 hours per FDA guidelines.
  • Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Truffles can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
  • If no food processor, crush Oreos in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin.
  • Add more cookie crumbs if the mixture is too soft to roll.
  • Use a toothpick to remove excess candy coating from the fork before placing truffles on parchment to avoid mess.
  • Decorate creatively with cookie crumbs, sprinkles, crushed candies, or drizzle contrasting melted chocolate after coating hardens.
